picnic with an elephant

May 17, 2011

The weather has been great here in Atlanta. It cooled down a bit the last couple of days but its warming right back up. I would say if you’re planning to go on a picnic, go before the end of May. After that it may just be too hot, especially if you live in the South. What’s a picnic without the perfect basket to put all of your goodies in? Jess, a medical school friend of mine, found this beautiful elephant picnic basket online:

Royal Plantation Elephant Basket, $325, kate spade

Not only could it be used for a picnic basket, just as easily you can use it as a unique purse! You wouldn’t be able to walk down the street without someone noticing! There’s just one problem… It costs $325. So for now I will just have to dream about carrying it around in my dreams while hoping somebody feels extra generous on my birthday coming up in June… hint hint :)

If you’re interested it can be found on kate spade’s website here.

irrelephant

September 13, 2010

I haven’t had a lot of time to blog lately, but I had to take a little time out after I saw this awesome shirt. Thank you to my roommate Yasmin.

Anything Unrelated Elephants Shirt, $18.95, snorgtees.com

Two reasons I’m happy right now:

#1-  I’m definitely buying this shirt.

#2- A new word will be added to my vocabulary: irrelephant. I think irrelephant may be the second best word in the world. After peculiar. :)

david & goliath

August 6, 2010

My mom is great and she sent me a few little things I left at home in Dallas when I moved to Atlanta. But she also added a little something special in the box. I got this adorable David & Goliath tee. It’s a jersey tee and it is wonderfully comfortable. I had a little difficulty finding a place to buy it online, but here is a picture of the t-shirt:

Pretty in Pink Elephant Tee, David & Goliath

Currently, David & Goliath does not have elephant tees on their website, but this a super cute past design:

Elephants Are People Too Tee, David & Goliath

I love that the shirt says “Elephants are people too”. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell everyone :)

Lastly, I was able to find this quite entertaining sticker on the website. It’s absolutely perfect and costs only $1.50.

Goodbye Kitty Elephant Sticker, $1.50, David & Goliath

Moral of the story: David & Goliath has some extra cute elephant items for purchase. Their stock changes a lot so be sure to check the website often for new elephant designs so you don’t miss anything! And even if you don’t find any elephant gear, David & Goliath has tons of delightful tees and other stuff for sale.

goodbye left elephant stud :(

April 28, 2010

I’m really sad guys. I didn’t even get a chance to say goodbye.

I finally made it home after a long day of work and something fell out of my ear unto the ground. It was the back to my earring. And the front to my earring wasn’t there. And you know what earring it was? My beloved elephant stud from H&M. I still have the one that was in my right ear. However, left elephant stud is gone… forever maybe. I retraced my steps back to the car and nothing to be found! I drove all around Missouri today. Left elephant stud could be stranded, all alone in Sikeston, MO for all I know.

Well, I guess there’s nothing else I can do now but say goodbye…

Goodbye left elephant stud! You will be missed. Especially by right elephant stud.

Right elephant stud refused to have its picture taken due to overwhelming sadness. Therefore, this is my first pictureless entry…

elephant checks

March 26, 2010

I recently ran out of checks after 4.5 years since I ordered my first set… shows how much I use checks. Actually the main reason I use checks is to pay my beautiful mother for all the bills she is still taking  care of for me. So I am paying my own bills just not “paying” my own bills. Get it? Anyway, I give my mother a set amount of money each time I get paid. At first we tried to do electronic transfers but my bank (I won’t name names) is the king of ridiculous fees. So I had to pay a ridiculous amount just to transfer money to my mothers account. So then we decided I would just send her checks every two weeks. But that practice ended up depleting the last of my check stash which is why I had to buy new ones. I was without checks for about a month so my mom was without money for about a month.. hehe.. she lived :)

I went on a mission to find the perfect set of checks. I don’t know why this was so important to me, but it was. I tried to order checks from my banks website and I narrowed it down to Dallas Cowboys checks or Hello Kitty checks. I asked my friends what they thought and the results were all over the place. Some thought Hello Kitty wasn’t professional enough. Others thought Hello Kitty checks fit perfectly with my personality. A couple of Cowboys fans really loved the Dallas Cowboys checks and  thought those were a bit more professional, but not by much. I eventually decided against both of those choices because I found this wonderful website called Girly Checks.

On the Girly Checks site they have every type of check style imaginable for every type of person. I did a search for elephants and it turned up some great options for me! I ended up settling on some elephant checks with four different designs. Here is how two of the designs look: (I will try to get some better pictures up later but my camera is being a loser right now)

The best thing about Girly Checks was the price! I got my checks wayy cheaper than what the bank was trying to charge me! Now when I write a check happiness will follow… because I’ll  be using elephant checks! Makes me smile everytime!!

why i love tarjay aka target

March 10, 2010

Adults' Plush Elephant Economy Mascot Costume, Target, $124.99

Seriously?!? Seriously Target?!? I may just have to buy this. This is sooo hilarious to me. Why do they sell this?

Under additonal information the Target website says “Item cannot be gift wrapped”. Bummer!

I think this elephant costume may be one of the funniest gifts you could ever give someone. And just in case you were  wondering my birthday is coming up in June and I would LOVE to get this… no gift wrap of course…

water life love

March 2, 2010

Water Life Love Tee, Forever 21, $16.90

A couple of weeks ago I was shopping in Forever 21 and I came across this adorable bright yellow t-shirt. Seeing how it has elephants on it, I wanted to buy it. To my dismay, I could only find one in the whole store and it wasn’t my size. However, I looked online and the shirt was there! I haven’t bought it yet, but I definitely plan to. The jersey knit material will be comfy and I think it will be a great shirt for spring (spring will be here soon! yay!). The best thing about my future purchase is that a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this shirt will support the Samburu Project. The Samburu Project is a non-profit organization that is working to bring safe drinking water to people in the Samburu District of Kenya by building wells in the community.

Improve your wardrobe and support a good cause at the same time!
